Get Involved

Volunteers are the lifeblood of a grassroots organization. Ours is no different.

Committees

As we grow larger as an organization, we are understanding that the way we can best make Climate Progress is by harnessing the energy of our volunteers and delegating some of the important tasks of operating a large non-profit organization to them. Everyone has a role to play in achieving a future we can enjoy, and we need all the help we can get. Each group is led by either a 350 Spokane Board member or an enthusiastic volunteer

Policy

The best measurement of success as well as greatest impact we can have as an organization is through passing pro-climate legislation. The policy committee studies, discusses and prioritizes legislation for the greater organization to advocate for.

Volunteer Coordination

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization, and the more we have the more it takes to make sure we are properly coordinating and engaging with them to the best of our ability, that's where volunteer coordination team comes in to help!

Movies

Seeing and hearing the stories of climate destruction can have a profound impact upon a person's understand of the crisis. The movies committee is committed to having 350 Spokane sponsor climate related documentary movie viewings throughout each year, for the purpose of educating our community regarding the climate crisis and what we can do to fulfill.

Digital Organizing

Even before the coronavirus pandemic, digital organizing was becoming an important element of how we communicate with organizers and activists. Whether it be keeping our website up to date, hosting online meetings, or managing our social media pages, we ensure our activists have a way to keep in touch with us

Fundraising

Volunteers with the Fundraising Committee do not ask people for money, we match the mission and actions of 350 Spokane with donors’ personal goals and mission. Fundraising is an important element of any non-profit organization. Contact us and we’ll find a job that’s right for you.

Interfaith

Climate destruction will not discriminate by religion or lack thereof. The Interfaith Climate Change Committee is comprised of folks from differing local faith communities and is committed to educating ourselves and our members about the relationship between faith and climate change, and hopefully motivating religious people and groups to act on this issue.

Volunteer Roles

Rapid Response LTE Leader

Is your favorite section of the newspaper the Letters to the Editor? Would you like to activate and energize a team of climate activists to write LTEs? David Camp’s blogpost on the 350 Spokane website about how to write an effective LTE emphasizes that timely letters responding to current news are the most impactful. In addition, perhaps among our current letter writers are those that would serve as editors to look over the team’s letters and provide suggestions to increase their punch. Let’s drive the public discourse.

Fundraising Coordinator

Fundraising is a challenging but crucial part of running a non-profit organization. In order to ensure we can continue operating as an organization, and carrying out projects that make a difference in our community, we would like to ask for your help! We are looking for someone to take on the task of leading our fundraising efforts for 350 Spokane.

Partners In Solidarity

Hallelujah, there are a lot of groups working on climate these days! Would you like to help coordinate and amplify those voices? You would be reading through emails to discern ways 350 Spokane can take action, including signing on to other group’s campaigns/letters, promotion through social media, or asking for action from our members.

Boards & Commissions

Are you looking for a way to deepen your civic engagement and have a strong voice for good climate policy? The City of Spokane has many boards and commissions, as well as council subcommittees that welcome citizen members. For example, the Spokane City Bicycle Advisory Board currently has 2 vacancies, one for a Citizen at Large and one Youth Member (under 18).
